THI Sign-Mark-Sign® System - New Product Focus
The THI Sign-Mark-Sign® System is less expensive, lighter, more durable, has a lower maintenance cost and is not an attractive target for thieves.
THI has completed the R&D, testing and acceptance of a new product the THI Sign-Mark-Sign® System.
This patent pending all Fibreglass sign system will change the "sign-scape" across North America.
Approved by the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation, prototype signs and posts have been extensively put through their paces over the last 10 months and they are currently being deployed on the province's road system.
New Product Focus
Changing market conditions for THI's then current product line made a switch of focus to a new product a necessity. This product development had been “back-burnered” but is now in production as the THI Sign-Mark-Sign® System.
In 2007 THI submitted its first sign blanks and pultruded sign posts to the Province of Nova Scotia for evaluation. The evaluation period has lasted over 10 months where strength, durability, collision safety and other factors were tested and reviewed.
The successful completion of the sign panel test resulted in an immediate emergency order being placed by the province to backfill signs, stolen or vandalized for their metal value and post desirability.
This first short production run of sign panels has been delivered and the signs are being installed on roads and highways in Nova Scotia.
The sign posts have just completed more stringent testing and are now also approved for use.
Why THI as the Supplier of FRP Sign Panels and complete Sign Systems
1.Exclusive Provider.
THI, under license from Terry Hawkins, is the exclusive manufacturer of fibreglass sign-panels in Canada. Terry Hawkins has filed the only patent application in Canada for Fibreglass sign-panels (trade name Sign-Mark-Signs). We have yet to find another supplier of FRP signs and sign posts in North America.

2.Research and Development
THI has invested heavily since early 2007 in product development. The exacting requirements for mould development for the Sign Panels has been a constant process of refining both process and materials. The investment in the Pultrusion machine continues and upgrading of the guides and die system with the addition of new guides and dies designed specifically to enable the production of pultruded sections up to 22” wide this iwll also give the ability to run up to 3 lines simultaneously. This capability greatly enhances the ability of THI to capture additional large scale signage business as well as expand into new product areas.
3.Nova Scotia.
THI, because of its location, is well placed to be the Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada supplier with an estimated requirement for $1.3M of signage for Nova Scotia alone in the 2008/2009 year. The advantages of the THI Sign-Mark-Sign® System are well recognized and a switch from the old aluminum/steel technology is expected. Orders from municipalities across Atlantic Canada and now Quebec are already ramping proving the benefits of the product.
4.Partners.
THI is partnering with existing suppliers of signage to provinces across Canada. THI will continue to apply its expertise in product development and manufacturing and looking to partners to market its products around the world.
While Nova Scotia has been the proving ground with a potential of a total of $1.3M annual sign sales from all sources, THI estimates the Market Potential in Canada for Provincial, Municipal and Private signage that suit the THI Sign-Mark-Sign® System profile exceeds $13,000,000.
As always THI continues to look for other revenue streams and has significant additional pultrusion opportunities under review.
